Hello! My name is Pete Hanson, and this spring and summer I am taking a leave of absence from my job as unix system administrator to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. This site is meant to provide a means for my family and friends to keep track of my experiences and whereabouts during this trek.
I want to thank my employeer for the past 24 years, Jacobs Engineering, for granting me personal leave for this period. I have enjoyed working at Jacobs over the years, and I'm very appreciative for their support of my plans. I want to also thank my children, Sarah and Phillip, for their help. I'm hoping that both of them will be able to join me for different segments of the trail during the summer and for helping to pick up the "slack" while I'm gone. Most of all I would like to thank my wife Patty for her support and understanding. Without her support this hike would not be possible.
